What is a parti-color Cocker Spaniel?

Cocker Spaniels come in three varieties, based on color: black; A.S.C.O.B. (Any Solid Color Other than Black); and parti-color (two or more solid colors, one of which must be white)

There are actually two different breeds of Cocker Spaniels. The breed we call Cocker Spaniel here in the United States is actually called the “American Cocker Spaniel” in other parts of the world. There is also an English Cocker Spaniel.

The two breeds have lots of similarities, but also some key physical differences that make it easy to tell them apart. The English Cocker Spaniel is a taller dog that has more height than length, while the American Cocker Spaniel slightly longer than tall. In addition, the English Cocker Spaniel’s muzzle is longer than that of the American Cocker Spaniel.

Why do some Cocker Spaniels seem smaller than others?

Aren’t there other Spaniel breeds?

There sure are! Some of the Spaniel breeds that are currently recognized by the American Kennel Club include: the Boykin Spaniel, the Brittany, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, the Clumber Spaniel, the English Springer Spaniel, and the Sussex Spaniel.

In addition, you will find the Spaniel breeds as part of many popular crossbreeds. Cockapoos (Cocker Spaniel x Poodle), Sprockers (Springer Spaniel x Cocker Spaniel), and Cavachons (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel x Bichon Frise) are just a few examples.
